Sherine YoussefAug 7, 2026 – 5.00amWhen a teenage boy wandered through Libertine Parfumerie’s Paddington boutique in Sydney, pulling bottles from the shelves, founder Nick Smart watched with curiosity and disbelief. “This kid wouldn’t have been more than 13 and I thought it was a little strange. You’re in grade nine and you’re pulling some of the world’s best perfume? I was wearing Dior Fahrenheit at your age!”The boy approached the counter with his mother and nine bottles from brands including Amouage, Montale and Mancera. The total: about $6500. “I said to the mum, ‘I don’t mean to be rude, but he’s so young and he’s starting with the best, what’s he going to look forward to?’” Smart recalls. “And she said, ‘I’m going to buy them for him because he’s such a good kid’.”Subscribe to gift this articleGift 5 articles to anyone you choose each month when you subscribe.Subscribe nowAlready a subscriber?
