Aliko Dangote has positioned Africa at the centre of a meeting with Mark Carney, the Canadian Prime Minister, in a move that could attract foreign direct investment to Africa’s most populous nation and enhance strategic partnerships between the African and North American nations.
In a note on X by the Dangote Group, the crux of the meeting was on expanding investment opportunities across Africa and Canada, particularly as Nigeria is in dire need of an industrial expansion and manufacturing boom.
Both leaders also exchanged views on Canada’s Africa strategy and the importance of promoting stronger two-way trade and investment flows between Canada and African countries.
“President/CE, Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, held productive discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on advancing Canada-Africa trade and investment,” the note by the Dangote Group said.
The note explained that the engagement underscores a shared commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic development and mutual prosperity.
