The Finance department of the Government of Tamil Nadu has invited views and suggestions to augment the State’s Own Tax and Non-Tax revenues, and to improve revenue buoyancy, efficiency and self-reliance.This is further to a meeting of the State’s new Revenue Augmentation Committee on July 31, post which the Committee has resolved to invite views and suggestions from the general public, associations, academicians, research scholars and institutions engaged in the field of public finance, a statement from the Finance Department on Thursday said.Revenue Augmentation Committee begins consultation processTN had earlier constituted the Revenue Augmentation Committee under the chairmanship of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Economist, former Deputy Chairman of the erstwhile Union Planning Commission, and former Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.The views and suggestions may be sent by e-mail to tnrac@tn.gov.in to reach the Committee, preferably before August 11, 2026, the State said.The views may be sent in English or Tamil, or both.“Senders are requested to indicate, in the subject line of the e-mail, the broad category to which the suggestion relates, such as GST, Stamp Duty and Registration, State Excise, Motor Vehicle Tax, Mining, Non-Tax Revenue, or General, so as to facilitate categorisation and follow-up,” it added.Published on August 6, 2026
