Where heavy makeup and loosely styled hair once ruled, a soft, skin-first approach now reigns supreme. Ahead, WWD speaks with beauty insiders to break down the new wedding glam wave and the trends that’ve now been rendered passé.

According to Kimberly Michelle, founder of Mint Well Salon and Head Spa, bridal beauty is all about longevity, finding styles that are wearable and timeless. In pursuit of this, brides are breaking up with bohemian hair. “After several seasons of effortless, barely-there styling, bridal hair is becoming more polished and beautifully finished again,” said Michelle. “This isn’t a return to stiff or overly sprayed hair. The new direction is refined but touchable, with thoughtful shape, movement and structure.”
