Students of a private law college in Vallanadu continued their protest for the second consecutive day on Thursday, following the cancellation of the institution’s affiliation last month. It was noted that the college admitted students beyond its approved intake of 60 during the previous academic year. Due to that 36 students were not issued with hall tickets for the semester examination, leading them to stage protest a few months ago. “However, after filing a writ petition, and have since been awaiting the court’s response,” alleged a III-year LLB student. In the scenario, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University in July, 2026 had cancelled the affiliation of three private colleges on charges of violating norms governing admission of students. This includes one college each in Kanniyakumari and Tenkasi districts.Against this backdrop, the students have launched a protest since Wednesday, expressing concerns over their academic future. The protesting students further said that the issue now extends beyond the 36 students and could jeopardise the education and future of around 350 students enrolled in the institution. The protestors added that the protest will continue until the management of the institution and university members hold talks with them, give them assurance on their demands.
