TUGUEGARAO CITY- – After putting up a “Walang…(No…)” notice posted for hours, this city’s Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que finally issued an advisory before midnight suspending classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School in both private and public schools on Thursday, Aug. 6, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Maymay’s fury.
Observers said it was the mayor’s good natured but cheeky response to the barrage of online calls for school suspensions.
The mayor said in her 10 p.m. advisory on Wednesday night that Maymay will veer close to this city with moderate to heavy rains.
Ting-Que also suspended face-to-face classes for college students until 12 noon on August 6 while assessing if weather conditions warrant a resumption of in-school classes.
