MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan justices who voted to allow former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. to post bail committed a “serious error” in their resolution, according to the Office of the Ombudsman’s prosecutors.
This was raised in the motion for reconsideration filed by government prosecutors on Wednesday in a resolution where Third Division members voted 2-1, allowing Revilla to post a P1 million bail for his provisional liberty.
Revilla faces a malversation of public funds case as an alleged co-conspirator in the illegal disbursement of P76.9 million for the purported ghost flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Pandi, Bulacan worth P92.8 million, in exchange for a 25-percent cut.
He has repeatedly denied the accusation.
