As part of ongoing measures to curb road accidents under the “Safe Driving - Save Life” initiative, the Visakhapatnam City Traffic Police have launched an innovative road safety experiment by installing special speed stoppers made of discarded tyres at the RMB Junction.The initiative was jointly inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP-Traffic) Annepu Narasimha Murthy, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP-Traffic) G. Bhavya Reddy, and Traffic Inspector Ramana.ADCP Narasimha Murthy stated that the novel measure was undertaken following directives from City Police Commissioner Dr. Shankhabrata Bagchi to put a firm check on rising road mishaps. Highlighting that overspeeding at major intersections like the RMB Junction has been a primary trigger for frequent accidents, he explained that the newly installed tire-based speed stoppers are engineered to compel motorists to slow down.Urging citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules and exercise caution, Mr. Murthy emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and appealed to the public and motorists to extend their full cooperation to the police department’s safety drives.
