A Block Development Officer (BDO-Village Panchayats) was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials here on Thursday (August 6) evening for allegedly accepting a ₹10,000 bribe from a contract employee. The arrested officer was identified as Latha, serving as a BDO in Erode Panchayat Union. According to DVAC sources, the officer allegedly demanded and accepted ₹10,000 from the salary of a night watchman employed on contract basis in the panchayat union office. Acting on a complaint, DVAC officials laid a trap and caught her allegedly accepting the bribe. She was arrested and taken into custody for further investigation. Further investigation is on.
