With movies like The Odyssey and Spider-Man dominating cinemas and the entertainment world, many South Africans have one question on their minds: Is paying extra for IMAX worth it?

While streaming services are currently popular among South Africans, people will still go to the cinema if it's a highly anticipated film or if it's something they really want to watch. I mean, have you seen the lines for Spider-Man?

However, the biggest factor preventing people from going to the cinema is the exorbitant prices. Movie tickets are expensive, with standard 2D ranging between R100 and R150. IMAX and VIP cinemas would have you digging your pockets for up to an eye-watering R220 - and that is without the snacks.
