Luanda. Angola's state-owned energy company Sonangol has announced a positive breakthrough at its Katambi-2 appraisal well offshore the country, confirming the presence of high-quality hydrocarbon reservoirs that could bolster future oil and gas production.

The company, alongside Angola's National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), said the appraisal well successfully intersected two productive intervals, confirming the quality of the reservoirs in the offshore Katambi field.

The findings will support further evaluation of the field's commercial viability and future development plans.
