There is a growing trend of citizens taking on civic duties and contributing to cleaning up their environment. This was demonstrated by seven students and staff members from NewBridge Graduate Institute (NGI) who volunteered their time to clean the streets surrounding the institution's Musgrave campus.
The Community Clean-up Initiative formed part of NGI's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme. The institution said the effort was aimed at encouraging students to become active citizens while contributing to a cleaner, safer environment for residents, businesses and visitors in the area.
Although the clean-up was a once-off event, NGI said it reflects a broader commitment to community engagement throughout the year.
"We believe education extends beyond the classroom, developing graduates who recognise their responsibility to make a positive contribution to the communities in which they live, study and work," said Vice Principal Tamryn Collins. "This initiative provided an opportunity for students and staff to demonstrate that commitment through practical action."
