The UAE's telecom regulator has issued fines totalling more than $5.17 million and disconnected 9,433 numbers for telemarketing misuse since August 2024.
Telemarketing calls are restricted to between 9am and 6pm, with follow-up calls on the same day banned if a consumer declines or ends a call.
Companies face fines of up to Dh50,000 and phone service suspensions of up to 12 months for repeat violations.
Nearly 92,748 numbers were reported and 3,301 violations detected since the regulations were introduced following Cabinet Resolutions 56 and 57.
