An estimated 12,000 civilians remain in active combat zones in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.
Dmytro Petlin, a representative of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, announced the figures during an online briefing, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"There are still 12,000 people living in communities classified as active combat areas," Petlin said.
He added that about 115,000 civilians remain in the government-controlled part of the Donetsk region, including 6,176 children.
Petlin also noted that since the beginning of August, the region's population has decreased by 2,400 people, as they either evacuated on their own or were evacuated by the authorities.
