Police have detained two men in connection with the violent robbery of a Laventille resident who was ambushed outside his home shortly after withdrawing $155,000 from a bank.According to police, the 30-year-old victim withdrew the cash from Republic Bank in St Augustine at about 10 a.m. on Monday before leaving with a relative and another man in a black Chevrolet Cruze.Around noon, after returning to his home on Stanislaus Street, Laventille, the victim noticed a black Nissan Almera parked nearby.A short time later, two men approached him. One of the suspects allegedly shouted, "Pass the bag," before striking the victim on the head and stealing the bag containing the $155,000 in cash. The bandits also took a purple Samsung cellular phone valued at approximately $5,000.The suspects fled in the Nissan Almera.Police circulated descriptions of the suspects to patrol units, and officers of the San Juan Criminal Investigations Department later detained two men matching the descriptions in the San Juan Police District.
