Civil society and pro-democracy groups in Ogun State have accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of undermining democracy and “acting as a tool against opposition” by freezing the Osun State Government's bank account just days before the state's governorship election, demanding the immediate reversal of the action.
In a petition addressed to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, the groups described the freezing of the state's account 10 days before the election as suspicious, arguing that the timing raises concerns about the anti-graft agency's political neutrality.
