Ahead of Independence Day, the Delhi Police have intensified their crackdown on the sale of banned Chinese manjha as part of heightened security measures, seizing 384 rolls and arresting three persons in separate operations.In the Outer district, 300 rolls of the banned kite string were recovered from a building in Chander Vihar, Nilothi Extension. One person, identified as Rahul, was arrested in connection with the seizure, officials said.The police said the consignment comprised rolls of two different brands. A case has been registered under Section 223(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.In the North-East district, 84 rolls were seized in two separate raids. At Jyoti Nagar, 80 rolls were recovered from a shop in Ashok Nagar, and the owner, Rishab Jain, was arrested. In another operation in Nand Nagri, four rolls were seized from a shop, leading to the arrest of Amir Khan.The police said efforts are under way to trace the suppliers and dismantle the illegal supply network of the banned kite string, which poses a serious risk to humans and birds.
