MANILA, Philippines — The Senate on Wednesday called for the immediate lifting of the temporary restraining order (TRO) that halted the implementation of the P85 daily minimum wage increase in the National Capital Region (NCR) as it adopted Proposed Senate Resolution No. 577.

In sponsoring the resolution, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said, “We respect the wisdom of the court, but we also call for the immediate lifting of this TRO.”

The Regional Trial Court of Pasig City earlier issued a TRO suspending the implementation of Wage Order No. NCR-27, which granted an P85 daily wage increase for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila beginning July 25.

The Senate resolution urges the court to immediately lift the TRO and allow the wage order to take effect.
