MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed Vice President Sara Duterte’s petitions challenging the House impeachment proceedings, paving the way for the Senate impeachment trial to proceed without pending legal questions over the House process as senator-judges intensified their examination of the alleged misuse of confidential funds during the 13th day of the Senate impeachment trial.
The high court ruled that the consolidated petitions filed by Duterte and a group of lawyers led by Israelito Torreon had become moot after the House of Representatives transmitted the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate.

It said any ruling on the validity of the House Committee on Justice’s actions would no longer affect the controversy now pending before the Senate impeachment court.
