Joel Kinnaman as real-life CIA officer John Nixon interrogates a defiant Saddam Hussein in the trailer for TNT’s High Value Target: The Hunt For Saddam, the political thriller set to bow on Sept. 13.

Based on Nixon’s memoir Debriefing the President, the eight-part drama centers on the capture and questioning of Hussein, played by Baghdad Central actor Waleed Zuaiter, after the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the search for their former Iraqi leader’s destructive weaponry. Nixon and U.S. soldiers in Iraq took part in a massive manhunt for Hussein after he lost power, one that included a $25 million bounty.

“Where’s the WMDs?,” Nixon at one point in the trailer asks Hussein after his capture from a hole in late 2003. “Who are you? You are nothing?,” the defiant Iraqi leader responds, putting Nixon under a microscope with his superiors to see if he can break Hussein and produce the weapons of mass destruction that underpinned the rationale for launching the Middle East military invasion in the first place.

The series adaptation’s ensemble cast includes Lena Gora, Rebecca Night, Ewan Miller, Tom Berenger, Matt Barr, Paul Ryan, Christopher McDonald, Dar Salim and Talia Balsam. High Value Target is co-written and directed by Leslie Greif and produced by AR Content and Big Dreams Entertainment.
