Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Private-sector hiring totaled 44,000 in July, a significant drop from the previous month, payroll firm ADP said Wednesday.
Hiring for the month had been forecasted to hit 75,000 after reaching 95,000 in June, the company's latest report said.
People who switched jobs saw a 7% increase in their pay, the largest gains since August 2025.
Those who stayed in their jobs saw their pay increase at a steady 4.4%.
