Two Western Cape police constables face serious charges of corruption and kidnapping after allegedly extorting money from a family.
Two police constables from the Western Cape are set to appear in court facing serious charges of corruption, kidnapping, and intimidation.
The duo allegedly arrested a man from Mitchells Plain without justification and extorted money from his family for his release.
But they were caught after the family recorded the conversation and reported the incident to the police.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said officers searched a property in Mitchells Plain.
