A mum has shared her KFC fakeaway wrap recipe using Aldi ingredients that costs just £1.40 per wrap, a fraction of the price of an £8 KFC burger, and she says the whole family will love it15:13, 05 Aug 2026If you're looking to save money, fakeaways may be on your weekly rota, but to prevent you from craving ordering something on the apps, you'll need to ensure that they're as tasty as possible. That's why one mum shared the recipe for her favourite meal that's so similar to KFC - in fact, she claimed it's even better than the real deal. And it's good news if you want to replicate it, as it'll set you back just £1.40 a portion. Which, when compared to the £7.49 and £8.29 of a KFC burger, according to Deliveroo, is more than reasonable!Helen guaranteed that the whole family would adore the wraps, and they're bound to be a "hit" and make their way into your weekly meal plan.Ingredients:Helen says you'll need "two chicken burgers," and she personally recommends the "Aldi frozen breast fillet ones".You'll also require two hash browns, a handful of shredded iceberg lettuce, two tablespoons of mayo, two tablespoons of your favourite hot sauce, two mini wraps, and four to six cheese slices, "depending on how cheesy you want it".Recipe:1. Cook the chicken burger following the packet instructions.Helen revealed she chose to cook hers in the air fryer.2. Add the hash browns roughly eight minutes in, so they're ready at the same time as the burgers.3. While everything is cooking away together, it's time to "shred your lettuce".4. Combine the mayo and hot sauce in a ratio that suits your taste, and at a spice level your whole family can handle!5. Now it's time to put the wraps together.Spread some sauce across the wrap, then layer up as follows: Cheese, sauce, chicken, cheese, hash brown, cheese.6. Fry the wrap in a medium heat pan on both sides, using tongs to prop up the bottom edge so that it crisps up nicely, too.7. Open the wrap up and pile in the lettuce. How much does it cost?At just £1.40 per wrap, or £5.60 for four, it's an absolute steal compared to splashing out on an actual takeaway. She revealed that she picked up all the ingredients from Aldi, her preferred spot for the weekly shop. One commenter wrote: "Such a unique fakeaway idea, I have to try this!"Why is it better to have a fakeaway from time to time?Fakeaways are a brilliant way to keep that Friday night treat feeling without the hefty price tag that typically comes with ordering in. Once you factor in delivery fees, service charges and the inevitable temptation of extras, a takeaway can rapidly become a costly habit, particularly for families.Rustling up your favourite curry, burger or stir-fry at home tends to cost significantly less per portion, and you can make ingredients go further across several meals, use up any leftovers, and batch-cook to keep the fridge or freezer well stocked. Recreating a beloved dish using supermarket own-brand ingredients can deliver exactly the same satisfying flavours at a fraction of the price. They can be better for you, too, since you're fully in control of what goes in and how much you eat. Takeaways are frequently loaded with salt, sugar and saturated fat, and dishes are often cooked in far more oil than you'd ever use at home. With a fakeaway, it's straightforward to make small, meaningful swaps — leaner cuts of meat, extra veg, wholegrain rice or wraps, and lighter homemade sauces.Article continues belowYou can still pack in plenty of flavour using herbs, spices, garlic and chilli, while keeping the meal balanced and filling — so it feels like a proper treat without leaving you feeling heavy or reaching for snacks an hour later.
