A woman has claimed she 'hit the jackpot' with the seat she was given on a recent flight, as she couldn't believe it when a mini celebrity sat down in the seat beside her15:16, 05 Aug 2026Travelling by plane is hardly ever an enjoyable experience, but there are some things that can make it better. Planes are often cramped spaces that force you to sit next to a complete stranger for hours on end as you battle cramps in your legs and struggle to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.Getting the seat you want can often make or break your flight experience, and one woman on social media recently said she hit the jackpot when she boarded a flight and realised where she was sitting. Not only did she manage to bag an aisle seat, but when her seatmate came to sit next to her, she found herself face-to-face with a mini celebrity.Jody April shared a video on Instagram of herself sitting in the aisle seat of a Delta Airlines flight, when a gorgeous Golden Retriever got on the plane with its owner - and made its way right to her seat. The dog is a service dog named Douglas who has almost 300 followers on his own Instagram account, and Jody was over the moon when she found out that that pooch and his owner were booked into the seats next to hers.Jody filmed several interactions with Douglas throughout the flight, including passengers fawning over him when he boarded and him being fed a meatball by the flight attendants. She also filmed herself petting Douglas multiple times during the flight, which she insisted she had first asked his owner for permission to do.Content cannot be displayed without consentThen, halfway through the flight, Jody really struck gold - as Douglas climbed into her lap for a cuddle. She wrote on part of her video that showed Douglas clambering into her lap and resting his head on her shoulder: "Partway through the flight, Douglas decided he needed cuddles."She then added in the caption: "Best case scenario."Commenters on Jody's video were jealous of her luck on the flight, as many said she must be "God's favourite" to have landed such a good seat on the plane. One person said: "How does it feel to be God's favourite?" Another added: "I don't think I've ever been so jealous of a stranger on the internet."And a third wrote: "First class is nothing compared to sitting next to a dog! Let alone getting to snuggle? Are you kidding me? I'm so jealous."Article continues belowAre dogs allowed on planes?Yes, you can travel with your dog on a plane. In the UK, no commercial airlines allow pets to travel in the cabin of an aircraft on flights arriving in the UK, so your pet must travel in the hold of the aircraft.According to British Airways, travel arrangements for pets are expertly managed by one of their partners, depending on whether you are entering or exiting the country, and you can find out more information on their website. If you have an assistance dog, like Douglas, it can travel with you free of charge in the cabin on the "majority" of British Airways flights. However, British Airways is unable to accept emotional support dogs for travel in the cabin, and they must travel as regular pets.
