The deal will let TikTok creators use Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars assets in short-form videos that stream on both platforms

The Walt Disney $DIS Company and TikTok announced a deal on Wednesday opening Disney's catalog of films and television properties to TikTok creators, who will be able to produce short-form videos with that material — a selection of which will be available on both platforms.

The agreement covers content from Disney brands including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and FX. Creators who participate will be able to draw from a library spanning hundreds of Disney titles across film and television. On Disney+, the content will be housed in a dedicated section called Verts, built around the vertical format favored by mobile viewers, the companies said. It marks the first time TikTok videos will stream on another platform, according to Reuters.

A pilot will begin in the United States in the coming months, with plans to expand to other markets. Financial terms were not disclosed.
