Construction of 8 000 housing opportunities at Welmoed Estate kicks off.
Construction of one of the Western Cape Government's largest affordable housing developments officially commenced on Wednesday as Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertius Simmers turned the first sod at the Welmoed Estate development in Eerste River.
Beginning in August last year, Simmers and departmental officials held a series of public meetings with host sub-council 14 residents.
During these sessions, they addressed community concerns, answered inquiries, and shared updates regarding the development's progress before the project's launch.
The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure subsequently hosted two Beneficiary Verification Drives, allowing housing demand database beneficiaries to update their details.
