She was diagnosed with a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema, leading to a procedure to stop bleeding and stabilise swelling, after which she was placed in a medically induced coma. Chapman is now off sedatives and is awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a UK hospital for what is expected to be a lengthy rehabilitation period. Her management company, Vote Boxing, confirmed the incident and her current condition, expressing hope for her recovery. A GoFundMe page has been established to support her recovery, and boxing promoter Frank Warren has publicly offered his support.
