Türkiye’s political parties have largely welcomed a landmark bill underpinning the government’s “terror-free Türkiye” initiative, though reactions have varied over its scope and implementation.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli renewed his call for jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to benefit from the “right to hope” principle after signing the bill.
In remarks to journalist Sinan Burhan, Bahçeli also called for the release of former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and the reinstatement of ousted mayors Ahmet Türk and Ahmet Özer.
