Prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamy accused her former boss, Advocate Andrea Johnson, of lying at the Madlanga Commission.
Despite describing it as a “meet and greet”, the Madlanga Commission heard that former Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Advocate Andrea Johnson met with then Police Minister Senzo Mchunu at his private residence on January 20.
The commission was told on Wednesday that the meeting took place under private circumstances, with Johnson’s cellphones left with her protectors before she entered the residence.
State prosecutor Drushantha Ramsamy said Johnson waited with Cedric Nkabinde (Mchunu’s chief of staff) before meeting Mchunu and later indicated that the interaction had made her uncomfortable, claiming Nkabinde had “given her the heebie-jeebies.”
Ramsamy further told the inquiry that Mchunu had expressed a desire to clean up the South African Police Service (SAPS), particularly the Crime Intelligence division.
