MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has placed the Visayas grid under red alert due to thin power supply in the region caused by coal plant outages and the tripping of two transmission lines.

In an advisory late Wednesday, the NGCP said the red alert would be in effect from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
