Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.9 and 3.5 struck areas surrounding Sardasht and Laft in Hormozgan Province on Tuesday afternoon, August 4.
According to the Iranian Seismological Center at the Institute of Geophysics, University of Tehran, the first earthquake occurred at 16:10 near Sardasht in Hormozgan Province.
The 3.9-magnitude quake was recorded at a depth of 22 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 41 kilometers from Sardasht, 53 kilometers from Gowharan, and 59 kilometers from Bandar Jask, and 177 kilometers from Bandar Abbas, the nearest provincial capital.
The second earthquake occurred at 16:22 near Laft, situated along the border area of Qeshm Island, the Persian Gulf, and the Hara Mangrove Forests.
The 3.5-magnitude quake was recorded at a depth of 14 kilometers. According to the Seismological Center, its epicenter was located 15 kilometers from Laft, 25 kilometers from Bandar Khamir, and 33 kilometers from Souza, and 72 kilometers from Bandar Abbas.
