Eight people were killed at a railway station outside Kyiv after a delayed train left them waiting there when a Russian strike hit overnight, a local official said Wednesday. The victims were at the Kvitneve station in the Brovary district during Russia’s latest massive missile-and-drone assault on Kyiv and the surrounding region.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official. “The train was slightly delayed last night, and the people did not make their last train,” Vitalii Bihun, head of the Brovary District State Administration, said on Ukrainian television. Bihun said three more people remained unaccounted for and about 12 were receiving emergency treatment in hospital. The casualty toll could rise as search and rescue operations continued. The railway station was among at least five locations heavily damaged across the Brovary district. Russian strikes also hit food distribution companies, warehouses, residential buildings and a major freight hub where firefighters were still battling a large blaze Wednesday morning. The attack formed part of Russia’s third massive aerial assault on Kyiv and its surrounding region in a week. At least 17 people were killed across the capital and Kyiv region, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Russia launched 28 missiles and 115 attack drones overnight, concentrating the barrage on the Kyiv region, Ukraine’s Air Force said. The weapons included 24 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and four Zircon or Oniks missiles.
