Audu Garba Bosso, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, has arrested and detained four Police officers for conduct which the Commissioner of Police described as being capable of putting the image of the Nigeria Police Force, especially those in his Command, in disrepute.
“What happened was that the Imo State Commissioner of Police became aware of a viral video circulating on social media, and showing four security personnel forcing a young man into the boot of a vehicle at Human Race Road, Nekede Owerri. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday August 2 , 2026, at about 9.00 am.
“In response, to the unprofessional contact, the Commissioner of Police, ordered the arrest and detention , as well as an immediate investigation to identify the personnel involved and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident”, statement issued by the State Police Command noted.
It added, “However , investigations revealed that the four personnel captured in the viral video comprised two Police officers attached to the Nekede Divisional Headquarters and two Supernumerary Police Officers, who were conducting an operation at a suspected drug trafficking location along Human Race Road, Nekede, during which two suspects were arrested.”
