Gideros Bay welcomes visitors with scenic beauty
Located on the Black Sea coast in the Cide district of Kastamonu, Gideros Bay continues to attract visitors with its striking blend of lush greenery and deep blue waters.
Located about 11 kilometers from Cide’s town center, the bay is protected as a first-degree natural site and a second-degree archaeological site.
With a history dating back roughly 3,500 years, Gideros Bay is believed to have been associated with the Amazons in the writings of the ancient geographer Strabo.
The naturally sheltered bay is also said to have been used over the centuries by Amazons, Genoese sailors, pirates and smugglers. During Türkiye’s War of Independence, its protected location reportedly served as a storage point for ammunition.
