The Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority have recovered more than R800,000 for a victim who was allegedly kidnapped and robbed of his Road Accident Fund compensation
The Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Eastern Cape have secured a forfeiture order authorising the recovery of R800,00 for a victim who was allegedly kidnapped and robbed of his Road Accident Fund (RAF) compensation.
The forfeiture order was granted by the Mthatha High Court on July 16, 2026.
The order was secured through a joint effort by the Hawks' Priority Crime Specialised Investigation (PCSI) Asset Forfeiture Investigation (AFI) unit and the NPA.
Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana said the incident unfolded on the evening of April 12, 2026 when the victim, who was asleep alone at his home, was awakened by aggressive knocking at his door.
