Gunmen have reportedly ambushed a joint security patrol along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida Road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two security operatives and making away with their service rifles.
It was gathered that the deadly attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when four security operatives drawn from two different security locations mounted a roadblock along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida axis as part of routine security operations.
After completing the operation, the team reportedly began returning to their respective duty posts. However, two of the operatives failed to return, raising concerns among their colleagues.
Vanguard reports that their disappearance immediately triggered a search operation by other members of the patrol team.
