Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thami Cele says over 1.5 million beneficiaries have switched to Black Cards, but thousands remain and are urged to replace their Gold Cards before the deadline.
More than 280,000 South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant beneficiaries who still use SASSA Gold Cards have until August 31 to replace them with Postbank Black Cards, with Postbank warning that waiting until the last minute could disrupt access to grant payments.
Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thami Cele said more than 1.5 million beneficiaries had already switched to the new cards, leaving between 250,000 and 280,000 people yet to make the change.
“We have already over 1.5 million people switched over, already using the Postbank Black cards. We are left with about 250 to 280 that still need to come and change their cards,” Cele said in an interview on 702.
He urged beneficiaries who still have SASSA Gold Cards to replace them as soon as possible.
