Construction continues on a new helipad on the South Lawn of the White House to accommodate new Sikorsky VH-92A Patriot helicopters that will be used as Marine One.
Of all of President Donald Trump’s often haphazard changes to the nation’s capital and the White House, the creation of a helipad at the People’s House seemed to be the most reasonable — with the purported goal of protecting the South Lawn grass from repeated use by Marine One. But new reporting suggests that Trump is already scrapping aspects of the multimillion-dollar project, ordering contractors to redo weeks of completed work on the helipad.
