…says program targets 4,000 Operators nationwide
The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has launched the National agricultural mechanisation service providers training programme, targeting 4,000 participants across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to accelerate the country’s agricultural drive.
The 10-day initiative, implemented in partnership with AGCOMS (representatives of John Deere), the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), seeks to build a certified pool of tractor operators and mechanics to support nationwide food security goals.
At the launch held at the CSS Farms Training Complex in Gora, Nasarawa State, featuring an initial cohort of 250 trainees, Mohammed Ibrahim, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NADF, described the programme as a critical investment in human capital.
Ibrahim noted that despite Nigeria’s vast arable land, agricultural productivity remains hindered by low mechanisation rates, insufficient technical capacity, and poor access to modern technology.
