Ukraine is preparing to open four new clusters as part of its negotiations with the EU and has identified three key priorities.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Facebook following a meeting with the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and relevant deputies to the Head of the Presidential Office, according to Ukrinform.

"We have identified areas for more intensive cooperation with the European Union. This year, two clusters have already been opened in the negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, and we are preparing to open four more. On our part, everything has been done to ensure a positive outcome. Together with Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, the new Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov, and the relevant deputy heads of the Office, Serhii Kyslytsia and Ihor Zhovkva, we agreed on three priorities that must be implemented going forward," the head of state said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine’s full accession to the European Union is viewed not only as a political or economic goal, but also as a security issue for both Ukraine and the European Union.

"It is precisely Ukraine’s accession to the European Union that will eliminate the geopolitical uncertainty that Russia has exploited for several decades to sow destabilization in both Ukraine and the European Union. On the other hand, together with Ukraine’s strength, the European Union will gain the necessary security capabilities, which will strengthen the European component of the Euro-Atlantic community,” Zelensky wrote.
