Associate Editor Tom Bryant reflects on the abundance of new pictures posted by Brooklyn and his wife Nicola - and what it tells us about the bitter family feud18:07, 04 Aug 2026When Brooklyn Beckham eviscerated his parents in his now infamous six-page Instagram post, one line cut especially deep. Lamenting the fake world he had grown up in, he blasted: "Performative social media posts...have been a fixture of the life I was born into."It was a withering put-down of the public image his mum and dad had spent years carefully curating. But after chronicling their visit to Elton John's French villa in excruciating detail, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola stand accused of the very behaviour they so publicly railed against. We've had Nicola sitting serenely at Elton's pond abreast with water lilies, another has her scampering up the steps near his tennis courts with the sea in the background. Brooklyn, meanwhile, stands shoeless in a bay, gazing manly into the distance, while another pic sees Nicola inexplicably bouncing on what appears to be Elton's trampoline. And of course, we've had the ubiquitous holiday line-up pic too featuring the singer, husband David Furnish, and a handful of other house guests. Had they been summer snaps with almost anyone else, you may not have given them more than a cursory glance. But it's hard to escape the feeling that these are loaded.Elton isn't just another celebrity friend: he is one of David and Victoria's oldest friends for more than three decades. Long before he became Brooklyn's godfather as well as Romeo, Elton was firmly part of the Beckham inner circle, with David even calling him "uncle."There were holidays together, copious dinners out, and Victoria and David always excitedly posting pics of them attending his concerts. But it would appear that Nicola has now muscled in."We had the most amazing time, thank you David. I love you so much," Nicola gushed after Elton's husband commented how they had all had a "lovely time."Poor old Elton is rather stuck in the middle of the row. I revealed yesterday how he was staying very much on the fence - Switzerland-style - and refusing to get involved. "He simply wants to be a loving godfather to Brooklyn and that will never change....he cares about them all and he hopes that, in time, things can heal," an insider told me.Spare a thought for David and Victoria too. Brooklyn's trip to Elton's pad has coincided with their own holiday on the French Riviera, and an almost bizarre game of cat and mouse. The family have been moored off the famous Pampelonne beach, and a trip ashore to see their friend Michael Jordan and his wife became an exercise in trying not to bump into their estranged son. In the end, Brooklyn was at one point just a paltry five minute walk away, albeit at a different time of the same day. Under normal circumstances, they would have been desperate for even a fleeting moment together. But to cross paths with their son and his ice-cream wielding wife in the street could have been a particularly painful - and messy - experience. Instead they can comfort themselves with the abundance of pictures on their son's Instagram feed detailing their lavish trip with their oldest friend Elton.Or they could....if they weren't blocked.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.
