The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has suspended a conductor after a video circulating on social media allegedly showed him pushing a passenger out of a bus and physically assaulting him.In a statement issued on Tuesday, BMTC said that the conductor, Krishnamurthy of Depot-43, has been placed under suspension pending a departmental inquiry.The #Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has suspended a conductor after a video circulating on social media allegedly showed him pushing a passenger out of a bus and physically assaulting him. @THBengaluru@bengalurupost1@NammaBengaluroo@FriendsofBMTCpic.twitter.com/oSY8rM6Nj1— Darshan Devaiah B P (@DarshanDevaiahB) August 4, 2026The incident allegedly occurred while he was on duty on a bus bearing registration number KA-57 F-1104, operating on Route No. 258SD/1, during the night-halt shift on August 2.The corporation clarified that the suspension is a preliminary administrative measure and has been ordered without prejudice to the outcome of the inquiry.A BMTC official said, “The departmental inquiry will examine the statements of the conductor, the passenger involved, eyewitness accounts, CCTV footage from the bus, wherever available, and other relevant evidence before arriving at any conclusion.”BMTC said that it follows a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, discourteous behaviour or any act that compromises the dignity, safety or rights of passengers.“If the allegations are substantiated during the inquiry, appropriate disciplinary action will be initiated against the employee in accordance with the applicable service rules and regulations,” the corporation stated in a release.
