A driver and conductor of a KSRTC flyBus were allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified miscreants in the early hours of Monday, raising fresh concerns over the safety of public transport staff and passengers on the highway.According to the police, the incident occurred at around 2.30 am when the flyBus, operating from Kempegowda International Airport to Mysuru, had briefly stopped in Mandya to drop passengers. As the bus continued along the service road, a group of allegedly intoxicated men travelling against the one-way traffic flow blocked its path.The police said the altercation began after the bus driver, Vinod, and conductor, Eranna, questioned the men over their reckless driving. The accused allegedly abused the KSRTC staff, claimed they were “Mandya locals,” and continued their aggressive behaviour even after being warned that the police would be informed. They also allegedly abused the police before physically assaulting the driver and conductor.Both Vinod and Eranna sustained injuries in the attack and were treated at a hospital.A case has been registered at the Mandya Rural Police Station. The incident comes amid a series of recent attacks reported along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Access-Controlled Highway and its service roads, prompting renewed concerns over commuter safety.
