The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) lost its external power supply on August 4 and operated on diesel generators for about an hour. The generators serve as a backup power source to ensure nuclear safety.
The National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.
The company said that power supply to the ZNPP was restored at 14:20.
This was the 12th blackout at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant since the beginning of 2026 and the 24th since Russia occupied the facility. This means that half of all blackouts at the ZNPP since the start of the occupation have occurred in 2026.
