The launch is aimed at meeting growing demand from Gen Z and younger travellers while strengthening Cleartrip’s position as a comprehensive multi-modal travel platform.

Cleartrip, a Flipkart-owned online travel platform, on Tuesday launched Bus 2.0, expanding its road travel offering to cover more than 6.5 lakh routes across 6,000-plus cities in India, including destinations not served by air or rail networks. The upgraded product gives users access to nearly 95 per cent of India’s private bus inventory, alongside state transport corporation services, a range the company says was previously available only at physical bus terminals. Travellers can now book buses alongside flights, trains, hotels, and holiday packages within a single platform.Rising demand from Gen Z travellersThe launch is partly driven by a notable demographic shift in bus travel demand. More than 55 per cent of bus bookings on Cleartrip currently come from Gen Z users, students, solo travellers, and early-career professionals, who use the mode for weekend trips, home visits, and last-minute travel, particularly when train seats are unavailable.Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer, Air, Cleartrip, said buses connect more parts of India than any other transport mode and that for many young travellers, booking a bus is often their first experience with travel arrangements. He added that Bus 2.0 is designed to offer flexibility, wide coverage, and assurance of route availability for this segment.Strengthening multi-modal travel platformBus 2.0 follows Cleartrip’s earlier expansions into train ticketing and international hotel supply, and forms part of the company’s stated goal of building a comprehensive multi-modal travel platform.Founded in 2006 and majority-acquired by Flipkart in April 2021, Cleartrip was recently ranked as India’s second-largest online travel agency by market researcher VIDEC. The company has positioned multi-modal integration, flights, hotels, trains, buses, and holidays on one app as its primary competitive differentiator in a crowded online travel market.Published on August 4, 2026
