Hansard lost control of his motorcycle as it hit a soft roadside verge as he made his way home. He was treated at the scene but died a short while later.Glen was the long-time frontman of acclaimed rock band The Frames and tributes poured in following the shock news of his death, from the likes of former US President Barack Obama, Ed Sheeran, Bono and Bruce Springsteen.Mourners are gathering at St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin with fans of the 56 year-old's music lining the pavement outside the chapel.Among the mourners, famous faces including U2's Bono, actor Steve Coogan and TV and film star Chris O'Dowd were seen paying their respects.Glen's career spanned more than three decades, and he won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2008 with Marketa Irglova, which featured in musical romance film Once.‌Today14:19 BSTHundreds of fans gather outside CathedralEven after 200 fans were given special permission to join the service, hundreds more have gathered outside.Those not lucky enough to be asked inside St Patrick's Cathedral are watching on big screens. He really was who you thought he was.
