Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykhailo Drapatyi has ordered the Military Law Enforcement Service to conduct an inspection of the 225th Assault Regiment following a journalistic investigation by Anna Kaliuzhna.
That is according to Detector Media, citing journalist Anna Kaliuzhna, who disclosed the information on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
According to the outlet, the service will investigate allegations of unlawful orders and incidents of violence in the regiment. The Armed Forces' Main Communications Directorate told Kaliuzhna that a "detailed analysis of all the facts and documents is currently underway."
"There should be no one above the law. If the facts of illegal actions are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with current legislation," the Main Communications Directorate said.
According to Kaliuzhna, this is so far the only official response from the authorities to her investigation. The journalist added that she was unaware of any criminal proceedings being opened by the relevant law enforcement agencies based on the testimony presented in the report.
