COTABATO CITY — The local government unit (LGU) and police in Midsayap, Cotabato sought the Philippine National Police (PNP) cybercrime unit’s assistance Tuesday afternoon to identify those behind a social media post threatening students and schools.
The apparent threat followed a shooting that wounded a traffic enforcer Tuesday morning in Midsayap.
Midsayap Mayor Rolly Sacdalan said the post came from a newly created fake account and aimed to sow fear and terror among residents.
“The PNP cybercrime unit has been informed and is now tracing the account,” Sacdalan said Tuesday afternoon.
