BusinessDay July 2026 poll conducted this July, covering the current rainy season, asked young Nigerians how flooding has touched their income, transport and daily plans. The answers point to a pattern: rain does not just fall on roofs. It falls on wages, appointments and, in some cases, entire livelihoods.
Rain comes almost every week
Among those surveyed, 40.9% said flooding or heavy rain disrupts their work, business or income almost every week it rains. A further 36.4% said this happens a few times in the season. Only 4.5% said it has not affected them at all.
