Insider Brief
OpenAI said an internal version of its upcoming Astra AI model family solved 10 longstanding open problems in mathematics, quantum complexity theory and theoretical computer science, potentially demonstrating AI’s ability to contribute to frontier scientific research if independently verified.
Among the reported results are proofs involving quantum parallel repetition and stronger hardness results for the closest vector problem, advances with implications for quantum information science, quantum verification and post-quantum cryptography.
OpenAI has not yet released detailed proofs or announced peer-reviewed validation of the results, meaning the findings remain subject to independent scrutiny by the research community.
